About This Role

  • You are responsible for managing the entire appraisal process within the bank. This includes developing and implementing policies, procedures, and guidelines related to appraisals.
  • You ensure that the appraisal process aligns with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • You lead a team of appraisal professionals, including appraisers and analysts. You assign appraisal assignments, provide guidance, and oversee their work. You also conduct performance evaluations, facilitate training programs, and mentor team members to ensure their professional growth.
  • Establish quality control mechanisms to ensure the accuracy and reliability of appraisals. This involves reviewing appraisal reports, assessing methodologies, and verifying compliance with appraisal standards. You may conduct internal audits or coordinate external audits to ensure adherence to regulatory and internal requirements.
  • As an Appraisal Officer, you play a vital role in managing risk within the bank. You assess the risk associated with appraisals, identify potential issues or discrepancies, and recommend appropriate actions to mitigate risks. This may involve collaborating with other departments, such as credit risk or compliance, to address appraisal-related concerns.
  • Interact with various stakeholders, including senior management, loan officers, underwriters, regulators, and external appraisers. You provide guidance on appraisal-related matters, address inquiries, and present appraisal findings. Effective communication is essential to ensure a smooth appraisal process and maintain stakeholder confidence.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and guidelines related to appraisals in the banking sector. This includes monitoring changes in appraisal standards, compliance requirements, and valuation methodologies. You ensure the bank’s appraisal practices align with the latest industry developments.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the bank’s appraisal process. This may involve leveraging technology, implementing automation tools, or streamlining workflows. You collaborate with other departments to integrate appraisal-related processes seamlessly.

What is required and what we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree of any major.
  • Preferably 2 years’ experience of Appraisal Officer.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
